Dr. Jayesh Puthumana received his Ph.D. in Cellular and molecular biology (marine biotechnology) (2013) and M.Sc. in Environmental Biotechnology (1999) from the Cochin University of Science and Technology. Dr. Jayesh joined the NCAAH, CUISAT in 2017 as Assistant professor in marine biotechnology. Dr. Jayesh was a Brain Korea fellow (2016-2017) and did his Postdoctoral research at Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon, Korea. He was a recipient of Innovative Young Biotechnology Award (IYBA), Department of biotechnology, Govt. of India in the year 2015. Besides, he was a visiting scholar/scientist at Centre for Marine Biomedicine and Biotechnology, Scripps Institutions of Oceanography (SIO), University of California at San Diego, USA and Virginia Tech, Hampton, Virginia, USA. Dr. Jayesh participated in Indian Arctic scientific expedition in 2015 and worked on the Arctic viral metagenomics.
Dr. Jayesh Puthumana has 12 years of research experience in marine biotechnology particularly in the fields and cell and molecular biology. After joining as an Assistant professor in marine biotechnology at NCAAH in 2017, the research activities of Dr. Jayesh have been focused on genome editing and genetic improvement of animals in addition to Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), functional genomics, antibody therapeutics, and molecular and mechanistic toxicology.
