DBT-Bioinformatics Centre
Department of Biotechnology Government of India established Bioinformatics Centre (BIC) for Marine Bioresource Conservation and Sustainable Utilization at NCAAH on February 2021. The DBT-Bioinformatics Centre at NCAAH envisages human resources development in the subject area by organizing training programs on Bioinformatics and Computational Biology for the candidates at graduate level (7 days), postgraduate/PhD level (15 days) and postdoctoral/faculty levels (21 days). The research areas under the DBT- Bioinformatics Centre include the determination of the extent of perturbation of a typical marine ecosystem by human activity and generation of early warning signs in the form of accurate NGS genomic data,. Targeted drug discovery from marine biological systems focusing on applications such as virtual screening prediction and drug efficacy and ADMET prediction, building up synthetic biology platform for biosynthesis of various molecules such as pyocyanin and human resource development in the associated areas and the application of NGS in aquatic animal model in assessing xenobiotics deleterious to environmental health under “one health concept”, and development of human resource in the discipline.
