Development of preventive health care strategies in the seed production of giant freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879) using probiotics

The giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, is of considerable economic importance in the aquaculture sector. Nevertheless, the production of its seeds is frequently compromised by various health issues, including bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. To combat these challenges, probiotics as a preventive healthcare measure have garnered interest, as they contribute to better water quality, bolster host immunity and suppress harmful microorganisms. Consequently, incorporating probiotics – MY-1 and Enterotrophotic is anticipated to transform health management practices in M. rosenbergii hatcheries. This strategy would enhance the yield and quality of prawn seeds and support environmentally friendly and sustainable aquaculture methods.
